Fukushima Prefecture Information

Nice design. On the street near Pastor Mori's church. I think this was the first time a driver complained and told me to get off the street. I was tempted to ask if he had a driver's license. When I do drawings on streets they are wide streets with little traffic so there is plenty of room to drive around. Seagulls ,cliff, lighthouse and trees.

3:47-5:47 = August 23, 2006 - Mermaid, warm gray - 42cm

Lots of Triptychs in Fukushima. A man stopped and gave me a cough drop while I was doing this one. I was a little skittishas he seemed a little unusual but I ate it anyway.
Cherry blossoms, Irises, and bird.
Hirata
12:40 -2:40 = August 23, 2006 - Mermaid cool gray - 49cm

Pine trees , some type of birds, and a dandelion. Dandelions are considered to be flowers here rather than weeds.
Aizu Wakamatsu
7:17-10:17 = August 24, 2006 - Mermaid Ivory- 42cm

A very nice man came out and gave me a soft drink while I was doing this one. I was shocked when he later came out and gave me another drink. I have received drinks before but that was the only time to get 2 from the same person.
It was a hot morning. .Thanks for the drinks!
Pine trees, mountains, and fields.

6:36-8:36AM = August 25, 2006 - Mermaid green - 34cm

I could tell I was really in the sticks when just about the whole neighborhood was talking about and staring at me and my art while doing this one. Too bad it didn't turn out very well. Some day I hope to do this one over. This area is beautiful with lots of rivers, dams, trees and mountains.
Design with a flower, bird , and a fish.

1:25-3:40 = August 24th, 2006 - Mermaid warm gray - 41cm

Cute design. I am not sure if this was supposed to be a bee or a firefly. Since it looked like a nice daytime drawing ,I colored it as a bee It was too windy to use my beach umbrella for shade so I drove my car right up next to the drawing so my pencils could be in the shade.

8:00-10:00 = August 10,2002 - Mermaid - 33cm

This one is supposed to be Azaleas ( I think )but I decided to use a little different color scheme.
Kashima
11:04 - 12:45 = May 1, 2004 - Mermaid - 32cm

This was the middle of a larger design as I didn't have the larger paper yet. Tim Shubin and I took a road trip for Golden week. We hung out at the Uomotos cabin near Sendai and then saw Goshikinuma, Fukushima in the rain.
I got some great shots in the rain as Tim encouraged me to take some photos, when I generally don't take pictures in the rain as it is a hassle keeping me, the camera, and lenses dry.. Thanks Tim. How is your back?
Rest Area
11:40-2:00 = August 30, 2002 - Mermaid - 28cm

This was done at a rest area so plenty of spectators wondered what I was doing. This is just a generic design found everywhere in Japan.

6:30-8:30AM = August 8, 2002 - Mermaid - 33 x 52cm

This was one third of a large manhole at the picnic/camping area south of Lake Aizu Wakamatsu. An interesting area.I ran into lots of frogs all over the Coke machines, a snake that swims around the lake, and some Yakuza (Japanese mafia) having a barbecue. Cherry blossoms.
Hirono
1:00-2:25 = August 30, 2004 - Mermaid - 38 x 52cm

I did just a third of this one as I didn't have large enough paper to do the whole manhole. Cherry Blossoms.
Aizu Wakamatsu
10:35-11:25 = August 24, 2006 - MBM - 28cm

I had some time to kill before the local restaurants opened for lunch so I was able to get this drawing done.
Goshikinuma - Bishamon Pond
12:10-3:30 = August 8, 2002 - Bamboo - 20 x 27cm

This is an area of many beautiful ponds of various colors.
I met the Sendai Uomotos while doing this drawing so that was a great blessing. They have put me up on several occasions. Thanks guys!
